Fort Bragg--Former Idaho at Five reporter Pat Kelly retired from his second career as a Warrant Officer in the United States Special Forces earlier this fall.
The Medical Review Board at Walter Reed retired Kelly for debilitating injuries received whle parachuting. He served three hazardous duty tours that included Iraq, Bosnia , and Kosovo, and four combat tours in Iraq during the war followed by three tours in Afghanistan. Kelly was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star during combat duty in Iraq. "All those jumps took their toll, I wanted to get out while the getting was good,"said Kelly who retired at CWO4
Kelly graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in broadcast journalism. Last month he started his own blog, photo and video websites. "I'm going back and reporting on things I want to cover, just like I did when I was the adventure reporter for Idaho at Five and I'm having the time of my life."
